Fine Jewellery, Made to Order in Our Herne Bay Studio
Aurea is a bespoke fine jewellery studio in Herne Bay, Auckland, founded in 2021 by qualified goldsmith Alex Patchett. Every engagement ring, wedding band and commissioned heirloom is made by hand in our studio — not mass-produced, not imported.
We work with GIA-graded natural and lab-grown diamonds, and we’ll lay the options out side by side so you can weigh sparkle, size and budget honestly before you commit to anything.
The process is unhurried and personal. You deal with Alex directly, from the first sketch to the final fitting, usually across six to eight weeks. Most of our clients find us through people we’ve already made rings for.

The Process
Every Aurea piece begins with a conversation. Here is what to expect when you commission a bespoke piece of jewellery.
Consultation
We meet in person at our Herne Bay studio or virtually. We get to know you, your style, your budget, and the story behind the piece.
Design
Alex hand-sketches initial concepts for you to review and refine. Nothing goes into production until you are completely happy with the design.
Sourcing
We curate a selection of GIA-certified diamonds or gemstones matched to your shape, size, and budget for you to review before committing.
Creation
Alex handcrafts your piece in our Auckland studio to your exact specifications. Allow 6 to 8 weeks from deposit to completion.
